When Sumesh Menon Associates approached us with this project, we knew it was going to be something special. A large scope of work, an artistic theme, and clients who were just as excited about the art as we were — we couldn’t have asked for more. What followed was months of brainstorming, refining ideas, designing, and painting — a truly collaborative journey to complete this project that now has a piece of Za works in every corner. And looking at the final outcome, we can gratefully say — every bit of effort was worth it.

The story begins before you even enter the home. The lobby passage, covered in a custom wallpaper, greets you with autumn vibes, architectural elements, and a vintage feel that immediately sets the tone. It’s the perfect welcome.

As you step inside, the main space unfolds into a Roman-inspired dream, all in a beautiful grayscale palette. It starts with a series of painted pillars that lead you to a stunning sequence of ceiling panels and ends with a detailed circular artwork that brings the space together. Even in black and white, it will make you stare.

SPACE

This Roman themed house has an element of Za Works in every corner! Right from the lobby to the entry passage to the rooms- we got a chance to bring our client’s vision to life through our art and make their space personal in every sense.

VISION

Our brief for this was simple but detailed- Roman architecture but make it with only white and black as the main colors. The resulting designs were thus subtle but elegant, minimal but yet unmissable as you move through the space.

DESIGN

The journey of our art here begins with a wallpaper and carries forward with detailed pillars inspired by Roman architecture. A personal touch is given through placing elements like the Cinderella sandal in the master bedroom. It doesn’t end here, the kids bedroom has its own personality with illusion art that exists just barely until you look closer. Finishing elements with the white on white art in the guest bedroom and an abstract ceiling in the passage complete this home.

Above, we created an abstract ceiling mural. It’s small and minimal, quiet, but impossible to ignore.

In the master bedroom, we brought our client’s love for Roman architecture into yet another grayscale narrative. To personalize it further, we imagined her in a quiet Cinderella moment, walking down the steps of a Roman cathedral, leaving her slipper behind.

And just when we thought we’d seen it all, the kids brought their own twist to the project. Their brief? “Give us art… but make it look like there’s no art.” A creative challenge we couldn’t resist. The result: an illusionistic mural that hides in plain sight — subtle, clever, and filled with layers that won’t be spotted immediately.
